Nadat volksprotesten in Kiev de Oekraïense president Yanukovich in februari 2014 dwongen om het land te verlaten nam de Russische Federatie de controle over de Oekraïense Krim over en ontstond er een separatistische beweging in voornamelijk het oosten van Oekraïne in de regio Donbas. Deze separatistische beweging greep al snel naar de wapens en met steun van de Russische Federatie kon het de controle verwerven over delen van de Oekraïense provincies Donetsk en Lugansk.

De oorlog tussen Hamas en Israël, is een escalatie van het Israëlisch-Palestijns conflict die zich ontwikkelde tot een Israëlische militaire invasie in de Gazastrook.

The purpose of this report is to provide relevant information for the assessment of applications for international protection, including refugee status and subsidiary protection, and in particular for use in updating EUAA’s country guidance document on Syria.
The report covers the period of September 2023 – August 2024, and provides an update of previous EUAA COI reports documenting the security situation in Syria, particularly: Syria - Security situation (October 2023).
The security situation report examines the nature of armed conflicts taking place in the territory, the nature of the violence and presence of armed actors in different areas, and the impact on civilians, for example in terms of casualties/fatalities and conflict-linked displacement.
The drafting of this report was finalised on 17 September 2024. Any event taking place after this date is not included in this report.

This report describes the situation of Afghan refugees in Pakistan.
The report revises the previous EASO COI report Pakistan – situation of Afghan refugees, released in May 2020. It specifically covers developments between 1 May 2020 and 17 March 2022.
The report consists of three main chapters. The first chapter describes the general background of Afghan refugees in Pakistan.
The second chapter of the report examines the legal status of Afghan refugees living in Pakistan and describes the documentation process of registered and unregistered Afghan refugees.
The third chapter provides information on socio-economic situation of Afghan refugees in Pakistan according to their legal status.
This report is an update to the previous EASO COI Report Pakistan – Security Situation published in October 2020. This report provides information on elements and indicators that may help in assessing the need for international protection.
The reference period for the events described in this report is from 1 August 2020 until 31 July 2021. However, to allow a better comparison with 2020, for data on violent incidents and civilian casualties, the timeframe is between 1 January 2020 until 31 December 2020 and 1 January 2021 until 31 July 2021.
