Deze COI Focus onderzoekt de actuele politieke en militaire transitie in de voormalige regio van de Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES), gelegen in het noordoosten van Syrië, na de val van het Assad-regime. Het onderzoek richt zich specifiek op de implementatie van de integratieakkoorden tussen de centrale overgangsregering in Damascus en de Syrische Democratische Strijdkrachten (SDF), waarbij de nadruk ligt op de militaire, bestuurlijke en civiele gevolgen voor de regio tot april 2026. Cedoca sloot dit onderzoek af eind april en het beschrijft voornamelijk de periode van maart 2025 tot maart 2026. De analyse van de veiligheidssituatie in Noordoost-Syrië gebeurt op basis van gegevens van het Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED) tussen 1 oktober 2025 en 28 februari 2026.

The purpose of this report is to provide relevant information for the assessment of applications for international protection, and in particular for use in updating EUAA’s country guidance on Syria.

The report covers the period of March – May 2025, and should be read in conjunction the EUAA COI report: Syria - Country Focus (March 2025).

The drafting of this report was finalised on 23 June 2025. Any event taking place after this date is not included in this report.
